The Caps Cave

So as some of you may know, I have been salivating over the idea of a home theater since Rory and I first laid eyes on the beautiful blank wall in our basement. I've talked about buying a projector and sound system for a solid year at this point. Well after a bit of saving up (who would have thought that NOT spending money would let me buy something more expensive later on) and a timely price drop from Amazon, Rory and I took the plunge and ordered the thing.

Well we had everything by last Tuesday, but wanting to really set up everything correctly, we waited till Kip could come down and help put it together right. So for a few days i was teased with having everything I needed, but no Caps Cave.

Well Kip and Laurel finally got in on Saturday and suffice it to say, we had a lot more work to do than i thought. Originally i planned on just stacking my components on a wire rack bought from Target, but Kip suggested we knock out the drywall and build a shelf into the closet. Sounded great, but my area of home improvment expertise begins and ends with picture hanging and lightbulb installation, so this was going to take a bit of work.

Well 12 hours, 2 Circuit City runs, 2 Lowes runs, and about half a dozen diet cokes later, everything was done. It looks great and the picture is amazing. The sound system rocks (Rory just loves how the Base shakes the couch), and I finally have my Caps Cave.

We are going to add some jerseys to the wall, the incredible stick Dad donated to the cause (signed by the entire 07-08 team), and a nice coat of paint, but the most imporatant elements are  there. More pictures to come, but here are a few to tide you over.
